There is no miracle solution for fat loss. It is a simple matter of burning more energy and managing your calorie consumption so that your body uses up its fat reserves. But there is certainly a smart way to get the balance right and there are also many inefficient training methods and destructive diets out there. The problem with the fat loss programmes you read about in magazines and see taught by some instructors is that they are based on out-of-date exercise science and the myth of a Fat Burning Zone. This type of training will help burn fat whilst you are in the gym, but your metabolism returns to normal almost as soon as you finish training. The workouts we design for fat loss not only burn a lot of calories, but will make sure you continue to burn fat at an accelerated rate for up to two days after the workout is over. Another problem with traditional fat loss methodologies is that they may actually result in a loss of muscle. Muscle wastage isn’t just harmful to the body in terms of impairing joint stability and posture, but actually slows down your metabolism which means you are more likely to put on weight if you stop exercising. This will definitely not be the case with the approach we take!

…the fat loss approach we adopt can deliver awesome results – it is not uncommon for clients to lose 1kg of fat per week for the first four weeks of training.

When combined with an appropriate nutrition plan, the fat loss approach we adopt can deliver awesome results – it is not uncommon for clients to lose 1kg of fat per week for the first four weeks of training. How do we know how much fat you are losing? Because we scan our clients with ultrasounds so that we know their exact body composition in terms of fat and muscle (don’t worry – if this sounds too scary, we can use other methods for measuring progress!). The traditional method which focuses just on bodyweight isn’t just oversimplistic, it is actually misleading. If your bodyweight only drops by one or two kilos after weeks of hard work, you might become frustrated and give up, or be inclined to pursue more extreme and dangerous methods. But this small change in bodyweight may be hiding a large change in your body composition which is far more important. There are out-of-date methods for losing fat which will give you mediocre results despite hours and hours of training. Or there is a smarter way to train which will give better results in less time. The choice is yours.
